Industrial Kilns application

Lime Kiln Refractory Lining Materials

Lime kiln linings are selected around kiln type, fuel, feed, temperature profile, abrasion, chemical infiltration and movement. Rotary and vertical kilns require different construction strategies.

Operating challenge

What drives refractory wear

  • Lime and feed abrasion
  • Thermal cycling and process upset
  • Chemical infiltration and deposits
  • Mechanical movement or burden load

RFQ inputs

What the technical review needs

  • Rotary or vertical kiln design
  • Fuel, feed and lime chemistry
  • Temperature profile and zone drawing
  • Current lining, wear and shutdown schedule

Procurement FAQ

Questions to resolve before quotation

Do rotary and vertical lime kilns use the same lining?+

No. Movement, burden load, gas flow, abrasion and construction differ, so the kiln design and zone must be identified.

Should brick and castable be quoted together?+

They can form one package when interfaces, quantities, accessories, installation and responsibility are clearly defined.

How is heat-loss control reviewed?+

Provide layer thicknesses, operating temperature, shell or casing target and any mechanical load imposed on insulating layers.
