Dense castable linings contain installation water that must leave through a controlled process. A project-specific schedule is essential; this page is a planning checklist, not a universal heating curve.

Before dry-out

Confirm mixing water, placement records, lining thickness, curing time, venting, anchors and any repair interfaces before heat is applied.

  • Use the confirmed product instructions
  • Protect fresh lining during curing
  • Record ambient conditions and placement times
  • Check burners, thermocouples and exhaust paths

Why heating rate matters

Rapid steam generation can create damaging internal pressure. Geometry, thickness, permeability, water content and heat source all influence safe removal.

  • Avoid unapproved schedule shortcuts
  • Measure the lining, not only the furnace atmosphere
  • Plan holds and controlled ramps for the actual system
  • Keep an emergency response plan for abnormal behavior

Agree responsibility

The material supplier, installer, dry-out contractor and plant should agree the schedule, instrumentation, sign-off points and decision authority before the shutdown.
